What is the deepest part of Panguitch Lake? ›

The lake sits at 8,200 feet in elevation and covers 1,234 acres, with a maximum depth of 66 feet. Much of the land surrounding the lake is managed by the Dixie National Forest (DNF) and the area supports three DNF campgrounds, several private marinas/resorts, and a general store.

Algae in the water may be producing dangerous toxins that can make humans and animals sick. The US Forest Service has issued a WARNING ADVISORY. If you visit Panguitch Lake: Do not swim or water ski.

The lake is the source of Panguitch Creek and is fed by three small inlet streams: Blue Springs Creek, Clear Creek, and Ipson Creek.

Spring and early summer are a terrific time of year to fish in beautiful southern Utah. It's a perfect jaunt for anglers who want to kick off their boots at an overnight stay in the quaint town of Panguitch, or those who don't mind roughing it while camping in Dixie National Forest.

The recommended bait for ice fishing on Panguitch Lake is small jigs and ice flies tipped with mealworms, wax worms, and nightcrawlers. PowerBait also works for rainbow trout. If you're wanting to target bigger fish, use medium to large jigs and tip with cut bait.

The trout limit is four at Panguitch and anglers can only keep two cutthroat or tiger trout under 15 inches and only one can be longer than 22 inches. All cutthroat and tiger trout between 15 and 22 inches must be released. Any fish displaying cutthroat trout markings is considered a cutthroat.

There are many biking and hiking trails all around Panguitch Lake in which travelers are likely to come across a variety of wildlife including coyotes, elk, hawks, eagles, foxes and various types of deer.

Dangerous lakes in the US: Many deaths occurred from drownings. In 2024 so far, there have been 28 total deaths reported at the Great Lakes in America, statistics from the Great Lakes Surf Rescue Project show. Of the 28 reported deaths, 10 have been at Lake Michigan, the organization said.

The Panguitch Lake Dam is owned and operated by the West Panguitch Irrigation Company, an agriculture irrigation company that provides water for farmers and ranchers to grow their crops and tend their livestock, but also for Panguitch City.

Fishing: Panguitch Lake is known for its excellent trout fishing. Boating: A boat ramp is available; however, motor size may be restricted, so checking current regulations is recommended. Hiking: Numerous trails can be found in the surrounding area, offering scenic views and wildlife watching.

Dogs must be on leash. OHV/ATV use prohibited in the campground. Maximum length of stay: 14 days.

Fish generally prefer early morning and evening sun to the bright midday rays. In midday, the surface temperature of the water is also hotter, forcing the fish to move deeper.

The best time to go fishing is typically either early morning or late evening when food is abundant and fish naturally feed. Within an hour of sunrise and an hour after sunset are the times when fish are likely to bite the most. Fishing for some species of fish is much better at night than during the day.

Indian Lake / Max depth

Center Hill Lake is 18,220 acres in size and its max depth is 195 feet. This lake is surrounded by 415 miles of shoreline. This lake features waterfalls, rocky bluffs and hardwood forests.

Lake Silver (Winter Haven), covering 53 acres, is a Public lake situated in Winter Haven in Polk County, with the associated WBID(s): 1488G. Lake Silver is part of the Winter Haven North Central Lakes. The lake is one of the deepest natural lakes in Central Florida at 45 feet deep.

Lake Conway's average depth is 4.5 ft and at its deepest point 16 ft. Lake Conway was constructed in 1948. The lake was created by damming Palarm Creek. The lake is currently being drained as of November 2023 for silt remediation and modification of the aging dam spillway gates.
